“A richer life to me means to embrace what you have and where you are in life.”
A prize-winning racing driver.
Jan Lammers’ interest in professional racing started early in life; throughout his childhood he washed cars at a sliding school in Zandvoot in the Netherlands. By the age of 12 he was already demonstrating sliding to customers, having been taken under the wing of professional driver Rob Slotemaker, who recognised Jan’s talent early on.
Having undertaken his first race at the age of 16, Jan quickly went on to develop his professional racing career, first in the Dutch touring car and Formula Ford races, then in the European Formula 3. He finally made his Formula One debut in 1979, driving for Shadow.
Later in his career, Jan turned his attention to endurance racing, scoring Jaguar’s first Le Mans victory in 31 years in 1988. Ten years later, Jan started his own Sportcar team, Racing for Holland, and has since run the Dutch A1 Grandprix team and participated in all three Grand Prix events.
