“That is what enriches my life: the light of poetry, the light of nature, the light in paintings.”

A champion of the arts at the Netherland’s Rijksmuseum.

After studying law at Leiden University, the London School of Economics, the University of Cape Town and the University of London, Henrikje Crebolder embarked on a vibrant international legal career with Baker McKenzie, working in Amsterdam, Kazakhstan, Paris and Madrid from 1997 to 2006.

Hendrikje first joined the Rijksmuseum as a lawyer and business developer in 2006 and went on to set up the Development department in 2009, drawing in sponsorship from the Netherlands and further afield to allow the museum to thrive.

Named ‘Sponsor Personality of the Year’ in 2013, Hendrikje joined the Rijksmuseum’s Board of Directors in 2017, becoming Director of Development and Media and taking full responsibility for fundraising, stakeholder management, communication, marketing and the museum’s online publications. Under her careful stewardship, the Rijksmuseum has continued to flourish.
